Strain CMU-PLA07\u003cjats:sup\u003eT\u003c/jats:sup\u003e had biochemical, chemotaxonomic, morphological and physiological properties that were consistent with its classification in the genus \u003cjats:italic\u003eAmycolatopsis\u003c/jats:italic\u003e. 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis showed that the isolate formed a phyletic line within the genus \u003cjats:italic\u003eAmycolatopsis\u003c/jats:italic\u003e. Strain CMU-PLA07\u003cjats:sup\u003eT\u003c/jats:sup\u003e was most similar to \u003cjats:italic\u003eAmycolatopsis coloradensis\u003c/jats:italic\u003e IMSNU 22096\u003cjats:sup\u003eT\u003c/jats:sup\u003e (99.5 % 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity) and \u003cjats:italic\u003eAmycolatopsis alba\u003c/jats:italic\u003e DSM 44262\u003cjats:sup\u003eT\u003c/jats:sup\u003e (99.4 %). However, strain CMU-PLA07\u003cjats:sup\u003eT\u003c/jats:sup\u003e was distinguishable from the type strains of species of the genus \u003cjats:italic\u003eAmycolatopsis\u003c/jats:italic\u003e on the basis of DNA–DNA relatedness and phenotypic data. Therefore, strain CMU-PLA07\u003cjats:sup\u003eT\u003c/jats:sup\u003e is considered to represent a novel species of the genus \u003cjats:italic\u003eAmycolatopsis\u003c/jats:italic\u003e, for which the name \u003cjats:italic\u003eAmycolatopsis thailandensis\u003c/jats:italic\u003e sp. nov. is proposed.
